Was Falwell Bi?

This is something I learned from Roy Dugas. He stumbled on this logic accidently in the course of a relationship with a certain woman. It’s no reflection on him.

The Revernd Jerry Falwell died last week. If for some reason you don’t know who he was, just google “jerry falwell wikipedia.” Now. The Reverend said many good things, and then just things, for example, “God doesn’t listen to Jews,” and “Tinky Winky is gay.” Below my piece is a compendium of quotes from him, which is where I found those two items. Falwell believed that being gay is a choice. The below interview extract is from http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/assault/interviews/falwell.html wherein he also mentions that the surge of oral sex activity among school kids came about from the “media advertising” of Clinton’s behavior.

Obviously, you believe that homosexuality is a choice.

Oh yes--all behaviors.

Do you believe that it's a choice for everyone? Do you believe there may be some people for whom it's not a choice, that it's their sexual orientation?

No, I don't believe that. I believe that all of us are born heterosexual, physically created with a plumbing that's heterosexual, and created with the instincts and desires that are basically, fundamentally, heterosexual. But I believe that we have the ability to experiment in every direction. Experimentation can lead to habitual practice, and then to a lifestyle. But I don't believe anyone begins a homosexual. They begin the way God made them: male, female, with all the dispositions that are built in. If they choose to be bisexual or transgendered or homosexual, they're human beings, and they have the ability to do it. But as a Christian, biblically, scripture makes very clear that it's an immoral position. Even Romans I says that at some point, when they finally are just so committed to doing that. The quote from the King James is, "God gives them over to a reprobate mind," or a malformed mind.

God gives them over? Sounds like it was His fault to me. Okay, forget that. Now, about gay being a choice. I say this about that:

I am completely heterosexual, as straight as a man can possibly be. I do not find the male figure the slightest bit appealing in its shape, body hair, facial hair or stubble or that little kickstand in the middle. I do not want to have sex with a physical mirror image of myself.

If that’s how I feel and am, then let’s suppose that I have suffered a great tragedy, my family slaughtered, my people destroyed, any one of the horrors visited upon humans regularly. And let’s say that I then hate God for allowing this, and I am determined to insult him; I will commit a vile act proscribed by his Scriptures. I will not harm another person, because it’s not others whom I wish to insult – just God.

No matter how angry I am, how determined to hand my creator the most grevious insult, I will not be able to commit a homosexual act. I will not be able to honk another man’s horn. I will not be able to get it up for a man. I cannot see a lengthy stay in prison making me choose such an act over no sex at all.

Who could? I ask you, what kind of person could see choosing to commit a homosexual act?

Think about it.
